The butterfly paintings stem from a visit to an Insectarium in Deer Lake, Newfoundland in 2009.

I was taken by the patterns made by the brilliant foliage and the incredible diversity of the insect life, especially the butterflies.

After making many sketches and taking dozens of photographs I began a series which I call “Flight”.
